So
you just purchased that beautiful, huge, thin flat screen High
Definition TV. It's got all the bells an whistles and a remote that
looks like you will be reading the manual for months. After you set it
up and plug in your cable or satellite connection you may have some
content that is in High Definition but chances are you'll be
disapointed with the lack of available free content. You'll have to
turn to DVD's for most of the best content. Yes you can plug in the old
DVD player and it will look like a huge version of your old TV.
Impressive in size but a dissapointment in picture quality. The first
think you'll need to do is purchase a Blu-Ray
DVD player. You then have to decide if you want to use the messy
4 RCA cables,S-Video cable or one nice clean HDMI (High Definition
Multi-Media Cable) to carry the signal from the player to the TV.
Although HDMI is the most
expensive cable it's the way to go and don't skimp on quality. 24 K
gold connections are the norm for high end Blu-Ray and we believe it's
the best choice. It's easy just one cable and it is what all this
expensive gear you've purchased was meant to use.The cable carries
video and sound....cool.
Now you rush out to get your
first DVD in Blu-Ray format. Boxes can usually be identified by the
blue edges on the box and the Blu-Ray logo. Plus they cost a few bucks
more. In some countrys double the cost of a normal DVD. Next you hit
the power button on your Blu-Ray player and wait for it to cycle up. A
Blu-Ray player is just a computer so it need time to load the firmware.
After switchig your TV to HDMI and go through all the warnings on the
disk you hit the play button on the TV. Wham!Incredible 1080P or 1080I
picture. So vivid you see the pores on the actores faces. I have yet to
lower the lights and pop in a copy of 300 for a first time viewer and
watch thier jaw drop. It is AMAZING! Regular TV is now
ruined for life. Luckily more Blu-Ray content is available every
day.
After your initial amazement
you'll notice one thing. If your using your TV speakers you only have
half the experiance. TV sound is well TV sound and the imitation
surround mode will make it a little better but you will need to do
something about sound. There are many choices 5:1 surround, 7:1
surround and more. We suggest you take your time and really listen
before you sink any money into your sound system. Pay close
attenion to the sub woofer. If your an action freak you'll
need a really powerful one to get those pounding explosions.
You have just been walked through the typical High def Blu-Ray
experiance. Here at Interfun's Blu-Ray
News we will keep you up to date on the
technology, content, hardware and even how to do Blu-Ray on the Cheap. Our goal is to
be the site for the seasoned pro or the just thinking about jumping
into high def crowd.
